Perception Is Seeing (2023)

Visual perception is a process driven by sensation with its outcome dependent on judgements based on the perceiver's situational experiences. Seeing is an intellectual exercise strongly influenced by perceptions and cultural experiences.

It’s easy to look out into this world and see it for what it is. The creative drive in this series is to see this world we live in and give it more dimension. Play with what the image is showing us. Whether it be topical, personal, emotional and even comical.

The choice of the imagery being represented in Black and White was to help keep focus on the “Show and Tell” aspect of the idea of each individual piece and not get distracted and bogged down by vibrant imagery.

Whether the focus of the image is a lone tree in a field, some branches in the ground, a half blown dandelion seed head, or a set of clouds from a plane mid-flight, the objective of the series is to always see the image for more than it is. Not to take itself too literal but to provoke ingenious thought and show the possibility of what could be and not what is.
